Expert Qualifications
Dr. John R. Romanelli has 23 years of experience in the field of Surgery with expertise in Bariatric Surgery and General Surgery. He earned his BS from the University of Notre Dame and his MD from Drexel University College of Medicine. After completing his residency in Surgery at Morristown Medical Center, he went on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Today, this expert is board certified in Surgery with a Focused Practice in Metabolic Bariatric Surgery. Currently, he serves as the Division Chief of General Surgery, as the Program Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship, and as the Medical Director of the Weight Loss Surgery Program at Baystate Medical Center. He also serves as a Professor in the Department of Surgery at UMass Chan Medical School - Baystate Campus.
