Expert Qualifications
This expert currently serves as the head of epidemiology and biostatistics at a prominent university in Northern California. He has over 40 years of experience related to the prevention and control of infectious diseases, at both national and international levels. This expert earned his MD from the University of Chicago, and went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at Mount Auburn Hosptial, followed by a second residency in prevention medicine through the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. He is board certified in internal medicine, and has held leadership positions with several professional organizations, including past president of the American Epidemiological Society. This expert spent eight years working for the CDC, and served as an epidemic intelligence service officer with the special pathogens branch, an assistant chief with the respiratory & special pathogens branch, and a liaison officer with the office of the director. His research interests include vaccine-preventable diseases, respiratory infections including influenza, bacterial meningitis, disease surveillance, and outbreak detection and response, and he has been published over 300 times on these topics. In addition to the head of epidemiology and biostatistics, this expert also currently serves as a professor of epidemiology and a clinical professor of medicine.
