Expert Qualifications
This highly-qualified surgeon earned his BS in biology from Arkansas Tech University and his MD from the University of Arkansas. He continued to complete a residency in general surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and a fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care at the St. Mary Medical Center in CA. This expert is board certified in surgical critical care and general surgery and remains active in his field as a member of multiple medical societies including the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He additionally is highly published in his field, having authored over 100 journal articles and 20 book chapters. Formerly, he has served as an associate professor of surgery at the University of California, Davis, the Uniform Services University of Health Sciences, and the University of Kansas and has been appointed as a professor at the University of Virginia, the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, Temple University School of Medicine and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Additionally, he has held positions as the medical director of trauma and the surgical intensive care unit at Highland General Hospital, the West Penn Allegheny Health System and the Via Christi Regional Medical Center. Currently, he serves as an attending surgeon, a professor, and the medical director of trauma at a university-affiliated hospital in FL.
