Expert Qualifications
This highly-qualified expert earned his BS in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from Yale University and his MD from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He went on to complete a residency in general surgery at Boston University Medical Center and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Mayo Clinic. This expert is board certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery and an active member of multiple professional organizations including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts and has received numerous awards as well as research grants for contributions to his field. Formerly, he served as an assistant professor and as an assistant clerkship director of surgery at UAB as well as an attending surgeon at the VA Birmingham. Currently, this expert serves as an associate professor of surgery, associate director of health services research, and as co-director of surgical innovations and research core, all at a medical university in AL. Additionally, he is an attending surgeon at a medical center.
