He received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin, and completed both an internship and residency in general medicine at The University of Pennsylvania. He then completed two fellowships, one in Allergy and Immunology and one in Nephrology and Immunology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital of Harvard University, respectively. He is board certified in both internal medicine and allergy and immunology. His research, which amounts to over 100 original papers and 200 abstracts, editorials, and reviews is widely published, appearing in multiple journals including the Journal of Immunology, Journal of Allergy Asthma and Immunology. He is Director of Allergy and Immunology, Lead Clinical Physician, Senior Scholar in Epidemiology, Professor of Medicine and Neurology at a university's medical center.
