He earned his BA in economics from the State University of New York at Oneonta, and his MA and PhD in economics and finance from the University of Pennsylvania. He is active in his field through his memberships in the American Economic Association, Financial Management Association, and American Statistical Association. Additionally, he has published extensively in his field. He has formerly held high ranking positions such as the chief economist and vice president of finance at the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, the managing director of financial and economic research at IBM World Trade Corporation and the chairman of Pace University's finance department. He currently works as a consulting economist for a New York based consulting company.
