He earned an AA from the University of South Florida and is a licensed commercial driver. Formerly, he has served as an assistant terminal manager for Calzona Tankways and the owner-operator of a common carrier refrigerated trucking company. He then went on to become a safety director at several trucking companies, including Ryder Corp and C&W Trucking Inc. He has also served as a safety consultant for the Florida Department of Transportation. He is semi-retired, currently working as a bus driver for a university in FL and a self-employed consultant on transportation matters part-time.
