She earned her AS in applied science from Luzerne County Community College and completed a 120-hour nursing home administrator's course at Penn State University. She is licensed as a registered nurse and a nursing home administrator. She has been a registered nurse for several different units at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, including orthopedics, ER/ICU, and subacute and medical-surgical care. She was also a critical care nurse for Saint Catherine's Medical Center and a nurse supervisor for Genesis Healthcare.
