Expert Qualifications
Dr. Michael A. Belfort has 28 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology with expertise in Maternal and Fetal Medicine. He earned his MBBCH from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, his MD from the University of Cape Town, and his Ph.D. from Karolinska Institute Faculty of Medicine. After completing his residencies in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Edendale Hospital, the University of Cape Town Faculty of Health Sciences, and Baylor University Medical Center, he went on to complete his Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center. Today, this expert is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Maternal and Fetal Medicine. Formerly, this expert held roles as a Professor of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine and as the Director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Utah Valley Hospital. Currently, he serves as the Medical Director of the Texas Children’s Fetal Center and as the Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief and the FB McGuyer Family Endowed Chair of Fetal Surgery at the Texas Children's Hospital. He also serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center and as the Ernst W. Bertner Chairman and Professor of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and as a Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology, Surgery and Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
