Expert Qualifications
This expert first earned his BS in biology from the University of Cincinnati before completing his MD at Ohio State University. He finished his residency in general surgery at Rush University before completing two fellowships: one in pediatric surgical critical care at Northwestern University, and one in pediatric surgery at Oklahoma University. He is triple board-certified in general surgery, pediatric surgery, and surgical critical care with over $7 million awarded in grants for his research efforts. He has been published over 20 times, presented nationally numerous times, and holds 10 different memberships in professional societies in his field. He actively contributes to his field: he is the trauma domain lead for a federal program established to aid in pediatric emergency care, as well as trauma liaison for this program's Great Lakes disaster response area, the pediatric medical director for a trauma care system in Ohio, and the pediatric trauma director, surgical director of the pediatric intensive care unit, and associate medical director of the aerodigestive disease clinic for a children's hospital in Ohio. He also serves as the surgical lead for a neonatal program in this hospital, a state trauma site review for a trauma care system in Pennsylvania, and an assistant professor of surgery at a top-ranked private research university in Ohio.
