This highly qualified expert has over 25 years of experience in crime scene investigation, ballistic trajectory analysis, and firearm and toolmark examination. He received his BA in biology from Macalester College, before receiving his MS in biology from the University of Virginia. He holds additional certifications in criminalistics, technical assessment, and firearm, toolmark, and gunshot residue evidence examination and identification. This expert is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the Association of Firearm and Toolmark Examiners, the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors, and the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts. He is also active in academia, having published 3 peer-reviewed journal articles and having been an invited speaker to 9 conferences and lectures on shooting scene reconstruction and forensic firearms examinations. He previously served as an assistant scientist in the department of endocrinology at the University of Minnesota. This expert also worked as a forensic scientist, crime scene team leader, and crime scene technical leader at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. He is currently the owner and operator of a self-owned forensic services firm and a forensic scientist and firearm section technical leader at a criminal investigative bureau in Minnesota.
