Expert Qualifications
This highly qualified expert is board certified in neurology and psychiatry with subspecialty in spinal cord injury medicine and neural repair and rehabilitation. He has has been practicing for 26+ years and received his MD degree from the University of Bonn, Germany. He completed residency training in internal medicine, neurology and neuropathology at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, and concluded two fellowships focusing on neuroimmunology and neurogenetics at Columbia University, and in retrovirology and molecular biology at McGill University. He is a member of various professional associations, including the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, the American Neurological Association and the American Academy of Neurology. He has published 65+ peer-reviewed journal articles and serves in the editorial boards of of four renowned medical journals. He lectures both nationally and internationally and has received several honors for his impressive work as an academic and practitioner. He is the former director of the Spinal Cord Injury Service and the Regional Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence at St. Louis VA Medical Center and the former director of the Neuropathy Association Center of Excellence and the National MS Society Multiple Sclerosis Center at St Louis University where he was a tenured professor. Currently, he is the chair of a Neuroscience Institute, chief of the Neurology Service, Director of the MS and Hereditary Neuropathy Centers at a major academic medical center, and a professor at a major university.
