This Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at a prominent southern university is also the director of a molecular Neuro-Oncology laboratory and the chief of Neurosurgery at a major Veteran's Administration medical center in the Southeast. He attended medical school at Johns Hopkins University, earning MD, PhD, and MPH degrees. He pursued his neurosurgical residency training at Duke University, where he also completed an MHSc program. His primary clinical interest has been caring for patients with one of the most malignant primary brain tumors, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). In addition to his clinical and research interests in malignant brain tumors, he has remained very active in the education of medical students, neurosurgery residents/fellows, and young neurosurgeons. Throughout his career, he has also maintained a very active clinical and administrative role in the healthcare of veterans with neurosurgical conditions.
