After earning his BS in electrical engineering at Pennsylvania State University, he became an electrical engineer for multiple firms, including the Potomac Electric Power Company and Northwestern REC. He is a certified fire and explosion investigator and a registered professional engineer, and is a member of such organizations as the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the International Association of Arson Investigators. He is currently an electrical engineer for a forensic engineering firm, where he inspects electrical systems for fire investigations.
