Prior to beginning his career in the field, he held the role of Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps until he was honorably discharged. Subsequently, he served as a Police Officer before moving his way up to the position of Lieutenant for the Norfolk Southern Railway. Most recently, he served as the Supervisor of the Safety Environmental Department and as the Manager of Grade Crossing Safety for the Norfolk Southern Railway. Currently, he is the Sole Proprietor of Hughes Consulting, LLC.
