This case takes place in California and involves a young female who worked for a furniture delivery service. In the course of her daily duties, the woman was expected to spend several hours driving one of the company’s delivery trucks. The truck that the plaintiff was assigned to had been acquired second hand, and had a significant amount of damage from wear that her employer had failed to repair. The driver seat of the vehicle had a broken suspension system that failed to mitigate the shock of potholes or other defects in the road surface, subjecting the driver to frequent vibrations along the course of her delivery routes. Eventually, after driving the truck for over a year, the plaintiff started to urinate blood and suffered severe kidney pain. After being examined by a nephrologist, the plaintiff was diagnosed with a renal infarction. It is alleged that her injuries were caused by the shocks and vibrations she endured in the course of her work.

Expert Witness Response E-006682
I have seen many patients with renal infarction over the years and am qualified to discuss the risks, in this subject would mainly include the long time sitting, as well as the jarring about. I believe that it is possible that the combination of extended sitting and the vibrations from the broken seat could have contributed to her injuries. I have performed several IMEs over the years, altogether about 5, and I have never been the target of a malpractice claim. I Â have served as a kidney expert on renal artery and renal injury issues before. I also have specific expertise in hematuria.
