I have extensive experience with water delivery systems, including domestic hot water systems. I founded and managed a multi-discipline engineering firm that provided design of mechanical (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) systems for a wide variety of buildings for more than 20 years. I would have to inspect and evaluate the system myself to determine the exact reasons for the scalding conditions in this particular shower, however shower water should never be so hot as to cause the kinds of injuries described in the case above. I have been involved in an number of cases that have involved scalding.
